A short drive to Bari today. Bari is a port city overlooking the Adriatic Sea, as well as the capital of the Puglia region in southern Italy. It is our last stop before we jump on the train to Roma and start to think about heading home! We hope you've enjoyed following us! Arrivederci 💋

Another day another UNESCO World Heritage site! Completely enamoured by all wild poppies littering the sides of the roads (all through Italy) and the fields during this drive. We are now in the Puglia region in the city of Bari in the town of Alberobello. It is known for it's white conical buildings in stone called Trulli. There are hundreds of them! These amazing constructions of dry stone are a sight to behold. We've had the great pleasure of staying in a quite large one for the night. Arrivederci 💋

Day 36

With our sailing adventure over it was time to make a decision about our last week in this magnificent country. After very little deliberation we hired a car in Napoli and headed to Matera. What a change of scenery from the Almafi Coast! We're staying at the beautiful Hotel Casino Ridola in the only two rooms up in the gorgeous attic. A quick dip in the pool followed by a long, hot shower and then an evening meander through Sassi. The Sassi di Matera (Sasso Caveoso and Sasso Barisano) of the city of Matera, Basilicata, is famous for the ancient cave dwellings. The last people were moved out in 1952! We had a truly spectacular dinner last night in a cave and lunch in a cave today after sightseeing this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site. Who knows what's next! Arrivederci 💋
